Habaschis Café- دا عَيِّل يتيم، طَبْ يستحمى فين؟ وللا يغسل هدومه إزاي؟ يا ترى بقى يقعد جنب النسوان اللي بتغسل هدومها على حرف الترعة!
He's an orphan boy; where is he to bathe, and how is he to wash his clothes? Is he to squat beside the women washing theirs on the edge of the canal?
Habaschis Caféوانهدَّتِ القهوة.. غير أنها بقيت في ذاكرة الناس، عمرٌ وهم يرتادونها، تفاصيلُها حيَّةٌ في صدورهم رغم أن المالك الجديد أزالها من فوق وجه الأرض وشيَّدَ مكانها قهوةً جديدةً أسماها (قهوة الأكْتَع).
And the café was pulled down. Yet it stayed in people's memory; they had frequented it a lifetime and its details lived on in their hearts, though the new owner wiped it off the face of the earth and built in its place a new café he called the One-Armed Man's Café.
Habaschis Caféلكن أين هم الآن؟ الذي شاخ والذي مات والذي تكسَّح ولم يعُدْ يخرج من بيته، وخلَّفوا ذريةً تجهل مَنْ هو حبشي! وأني كنت سبعًا من سباع الليل.
But where are they now? One has grown old, one has died, one is crippled and never leaves his house, and they left behind offspring who do not know who Habashi is, or that I was once a lion of the night.
